Marian Songs for Advent

Advent is a wonderful time to emphasize Our Lady (a great read about Our Lady for Advent is The Reed of God by Caryll Houselander) and hymns about her fiat (which means “yes”) and her pregnancy are beautifully appropriate. Here are a few of our favorite songs for the season…

This is the version Sting performed about 20 years ago which re-popularized the song. I was first introduced to the song via this rendition (on the popular album, A Very Special Christmas) when I was in high school. I love the music, but not so much the video:
