That is great! Welcome back! Blogger has a new interface and although I am still getting used to it it does feel more efficient. I tried word press once for a homeschool group blog and yikes I was really lost there, clunky, clunky!

Thanks for playing! I’m so with you on the teachers’ manuals and scripted stuff(gesundheit!), and the thought of us spending money on a book to ‘encourage creativity’ is truly ridiculous. Funny how the lure of the catalogs really wears off over time. You are certainly blessed with a wonderful parish!

Yes, you definitely saw braces. She was a late start because other braces were more urgent and then we almost waited too long! I’m glad you’re enjoying the pics – there sure are some lovely ones!

Yep, I’m sure you understand the perspective thing. And I forgot to mention that after graduating one, I think we have a clearer sense of what books we’re likely to need/use and which ones are just interesting and useful in my dreams.

Saw J.’s pics on Facebook, from TAC– did I see braces? Perhaps not, She seems so happy, and surrounded by beauty. Can’t wait until I have or own daughter there.

Loved the baby turtle story. You are so right about how our perspectives change once the first one goes. I have the fourth out the door, and next year the fifth. It flies. We did a huge Dumpster/give away session this summer and have not regretted throwing/selling/giving one single item, and there were thousands of them. We went by the premise of “we are getting rid of it all, only keeping what we couldn’t possibly part with”. Thant helped immensely. I keep in mind how happy we are when we go camping, with nothing.

Well, it’s important to keep in mind that there are different meanings of the world traditionalist and, naturally, not everything that is described as traditionalist is bad. An example that comes to mind for me of the problematic kind described above would be someone who strongly objects to the addition of the Luminous Mysteries to the Rosary. a) They probably have an unclear concept of the origins of the Rosary (and thus think Our Lady gave it to St. Dominic exactly the way it was before Pope John Paul II changed it, which is not correct) and b) I think anyone who looked at the concept objectively would see that it’s not only *not* a detraction to the Rosary or its particular tradition, but in fact an enhancement and completion of it – more like a restoration of something that was lost than any sort of negative.
